Beavers Post Lowest Single-Round Score In Program History

WESTFIELD, Ind. – Chayse Gomez carded a bogey-free 4-under 68 to help the Oregon State women's golf team post the lowest single-round score in program history at the NCAA Westfield Regional on Tuesday.
The record-breaking score of 11-under 277 moved the Beavers into second place with a 13-under 286-277--563 at the par-72, 6,300-yard Club at Chatham Hills. The five Oregon State golfers combined for one eagle and 19 birdies in the second round.
The top five teams in the field after Wednesday's final round will advance to the NCAA National Championships, which are scheduled for May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mississippi State (21-under 555) has the team lead and an eight-stroke advantage over Oregon State. Vanderbilt (7-under 569) is third, Virginia and Tulsa (5-under 571) are tied for fourth, and Xavier and Iowa State (2-under 574) are tied for sixth.
Oregon State has advanced to the NCAA National Championships one time in program history, in 1998, after finishing in a tie for 10th place at the NCAA Regionals.
The Beavers' best-ever finish at the NCAA Regionals is seventh place in 2017 at the Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 5 a.m. PT (8 a.m. ET) on Wednesday and live scoring is available at golfstat.com. Oregon State will start on the first hole at 6:06 a.m. PT (9:06 a.m. ET) and be paired with Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.
All six of the lowest single-round scores in program history have come under head coach Dawn Shockley and associate head coach Kelly Kerkvliet:

Gomez started the day with a birdie on the par-4 first hole and added birdies on the par-4 fourth, par-4 10th and the par-4 16th holes to shoot a bogey-free 4-under 68. She moved eight spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for fifth place with a 5-under 71-68--139.
The Yorba Linda, Calif., native now has 15 sub-par rounds in her four years at Oregon State with the best score being a 5-under 67 in the final round of the Silverado Showdown in the spring of 2022. She has competed in the NCAA Regionals one time previously, that same year in 2022, and finished in a tie for 15th place.
Madde Sund was spectacular for the second-straight day, shooting a 1-under 71 with three birdies, and is tied with Gomez for fifth place with a 5-under 68-71--139. She competed at the NCAA Regionals last year and finished in a tie for 40th place with an 8-over 224.
The native of Skollersta, Sweden shot one score in red figures in her first 39 rounds as a Beaver, but has gotten hot at the right time with back-to-back sub-par scores at the NCAA Westfield Regional.
True freshman Kyra Ly dropped in six birdies in the second round that helped her card a 3-under 69 and move 30 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 19th place with an even-par 75-69--144. The 3-under 69 equals her lowest score as a collegian after setting the mark at the Illini Women's Invitational this past fall.
Sund and Ly lead the Beavers with eight birdies apiece through the first two rounds of the NCAA Westfield Regional.
Amanda Minni has been steady through the first two rounds and is tied for 27th place with a 1-over 72-73--145. She had four birdies in the second round after getting three on the opening day. This is the first time Minni has competed at the NCAA Regionals in her six years as a Beaver. She finished in a tie for
Danique Stokmans improved her middle round of the tourney by eight strokes and moved 24 spots up the leaderboard and into a tie for 33rd place with a 2-over 77-69--146. In the second round she eagled the par-4, 335-yard third hole and followed that with back-to-back birdies on four and five. After a bogey on six, she reeled off 12 straight pars for her 3-under 69.
Julia Lopez Ramirez (11-under 133) sits in first place and is six strokes ahead of Gomez and Sund for the individual crown.
