Beavers Advance To NCAA National Championships

WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Oregon State women's golf team advanced to the NCAA National Championships for the second time in program history on Wednesday.
The Beavers had their best-ever finish at NCAA Regionals, second place, after shooting a 17-under 286-277-284--847 at the par-72, 6,300-yard Club at Chatham Hills.
The top five teams at the NCAA Westfield Regional received an invitation to the NCAA National Championships, which are scheduled for May 19-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. Joining Oregon State from the Westfield Regional are Mississippi State (19-under 845), Vanderbilt (16-under 848), Virginia (15-under 849) and Tulsa (9-under 855).
The Beavers finished ahead of seven teams ranked in the Golfstat.com Top 50, including No. 8 Oregon (9-over 873).
The last time, and only time, Oregon State advanced to the NCAA National Championships was 1998 when it finished in 16th place. The Beavers' best previous finish at NCAA Regionals was seventh place in 2017.
The 17-under 847 at the NCAA Westfield Regional is the third best three-round team score in program history. The 11-under 277 in the second round was a program record.

Chayse Gomez and Madde Sund both posted their best career three-round score with each shooting a 6-under 210 to finish in a tie for seventh place.
Gomez had scores of 71-68-71 with 11 birdies over the three rounds, the second most on the team. She had a bogeyless second round 68 with four birdies and followed that with five more birdies in the final round.
Her previous best three-round score was a 4-under 209 at the Stanford Intercollegiate this past fall. Her best career finish is a tie for sixth place at the Silverado Showdown last spring.
Sund finished the three-day event at 68-71-71 with an eagle on the par-5, 510-yard fifth hole in the final round and nine birdies over the three days. The tie for seventh place is her best career finish bettering the tie for 20th place she had last fall at the Florida State Match-Up.
She was in red figures all three rounds at the NCAA Westfield Regional, including a career-best 4-under 68 on the second day. She shot one sub-par score, a 1-over 71, in her first 39 rounds at Oregon State.
True freshman Kyra Ly had her best career finish, a tie for 21st place, and best career three-round score, a 2-under 75-69-70--214. Her previous best finish was a tie for 31st place at the Stanford Intercollegiate and her previous best tournament score was a 1-under 215 at the Illini Women's Invitational.
Ly led the Beavers with 13 birdies over the three rounds, tied for the sixth most in a field that included 68 players.
Amanda Minni was consistent as always, shooting a 1-over 72-73-72--217 to finish in a tie for 26th place. She also had an eagle in the final round on the par-5, 510-yard fifth hole.
Danique Stokmans finished in a tie for 35th place with a 4-over 77-69-74--220. She had two eagles in the tournament, tied for the most in the field.
