
Beavers Outlasted by Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. – The Oregon State volleyball team closed the 2024 season on Saturday at Pepperdine.
Despite winning the first two sets, the Beavers fell in five: 25-21, 25-17, 22-25, 12-25 to the Waves.
Lauren Rumel (17 kills) and Amanda Burns (10) helped lead the offense with assists from Alara Doganyuz (18) and Emma Lilo (17) as the leaders. Defensively, Yasemin Narlioglu had a team-best dozen digs while Vivian Light followed with 10. Complementing the double-digit digs, Light had a career-best five service aces.
The Beavers raced out to a 2-0 set lead behind a hitting rate of .350 in the first and holding the Waves to a .125 clip in the second while Rumel piled up 11 kills in the first two frames. Oregon State collected the second set win as Pepperdine committed 14 errors between attack and reception.
Looking to put the Waves away, the hosts turned it around and extended it with a 4-0 run when down one late at 18-17 for the last bit of momentum on the way to the 25-22 win. Pepperdine kept the pace for the rest of the match as they won the final two. Oregon State was held to a -.161 clip behind 10 attack miscues in the fourth before hitting just .136 in the decisive fifth set.
Oregon State finished year two of the Lindsey Behonick era with a 10-18 mark and an 8-10 record in WCC play.
