PNW Road Trip Closes 2024 for OSU WBB
December 27, 2024 | Women's Basketball
SPOKANE, Wash. – Oregon State closes 2024 with a road trip to familiar foes, battling Gonzaga and Portland in its first full weekend of conference play.
The Gonzaga game will be the first regular season meeting since December 3, 1994. The two teams have met three times since in the postseason with the Beavs taking a WNIT matchup in 2004 before splitting NCAA Tournament games in 2015 and 2019.
The Beavers and Bulldogs are set to share a conference for the next several seasons with two years of affiliate membership in the WCC for OSU before Gonzaga joins a revamped Pac-12 Conference beginning in 2026-27.
Oregon State leads the all-time series with the Pilots 21-4, including a 75-53 2021 WNIT win in the last meeting. Portland is off to a 13-0 start to the 2024-25 season with a 2-0 weekend debut in league play. Pilot head coach Michael Meek followed OSU's Scott Rueck as the coach George Fox University with both enjoying success as Bruins before moving up to Division I.

STARTING FIVE
MR. WORLDWIDE
Scott Rueck went around the globe to put together the 2024-25 Beavs. The team represents six countries and four continents including the 15th-year head coach's first Beavs from Spain (Lucia Navarro, Cloe Vecina), Brazil (Cat Ferreira) and Colombia (Susana Yepes). Oregon State's success with international players dates back to two-time All-American and Pac-10 Player of the Year Tanja Kostic (Sweden) and includes 2024 Olympian Marie Gulich, who led Germany to its first win in the tournament.
ROAD WARRIORS
Due to the WCC's 20-game league schedule and the desire to put together a challenging non-conference slate, Oregon State will be road warriors this season. The Beavers are one of nine teams in the nation with multiple stretches of 18+ days between home games with 21 days between their first and second home games (11/12-12/3) and 18 days (12/15-1/2) between the final home non-conference contest and first league home game.
