RowBeavs Victorious in Three Races at Season-Opening Regatta

Oregon State women’s rowing competed against Miami and Washington State at Dexter Lake on Saturday.
LOWELL, Ore. – Oregon State women's rowing opened its 2024 spring season on Saturday, hosting the Washington State Cougars and Miami Hurricanes in a regatta held at Dexter Lake and winning three of the five possible races; OSU heads to Columbus, Ohio, for its next race on April 6.
In the first race of the day, OSU's 2v4+ squad (Grace Sansoterra, Anna Bledsoe, Elke Thursten, Isabella Mitchell, Zoe Eberle) posted a 7:38.31 to win, finishing ahead of Washington State (7:47.85) and the Beaver 3v4 (8:08.77) and 4v4 (9:16.82) boats. Miami took the 1v4+ race with a 7:30.6 while Oregon State (Taylor Denger, Reese Wyatt, Megan Lautner, Katie Judd, Zoe Bishop) finished second (7:34.06) and Washington State was third (7:36.89).
Oregon State soon picked up its second victory of the day, with the 2v8+ boat of Nicole Shultz, Kate Worley, Lauren Garrett, Alex Hutchinson, Becca Logan, Anneka Davys, Ashtyn Miller, Harriet Williams and Sasha Delman posting a 6:38.58 to finish ahead of WSU's 6:44.48 and the Hurricanes' 6:59.56. That momentum continued into the first varsity eights, where the Beavers (Charlotte Gregory, Giulia Clerici, Maeve Donnelly, Evan Park, Rhianna Loughnan, Tulla Angeley, Becky Falash, Torree Hawken and Charlotte Lightfoot) finished in 6:28.6 to take yet another victory, finishing ahead of WSU's 6:29.24 and Miami's 6:35.5.
The third varsity eights finished with the Cougars' boat completing the race in 7:17.7 and Oregon State in second with a 7:40.74; Katie McKenna, Margo Calub, Jenny Doss, Elke Thursten, Addy Dunlap, Ellie Roberti, Hannah Stively, Abby Thomas and Kinsey Olarrea were in the boat for OSU's final race of the day.
The Beavers, ranked No. 20 in this year's Pocock CRCA preseason poll, are back in action two weeks from now, heading to Columbus, Ohio, to race against hosts Ohio State along with Minnesota and Indiana in a regatta scheduled for April 6.
