
WCC Play Opens for Beavers

CORVALLIS, Ore. – A new era in Beaver volleyball starts later this week as West Coast Conference play opens on Thursday night inside Gill Coliseum. Pepperdine will make a visit to Corvallis before Oregon State makes a quick trip up Interstate 5 to battle Portland.
THE MATCHUPS
September 26 Pepperdine 7 p.m. ESPN+

NUMBERS TO KNOW
0 – The Beavers will not play a single match outside of the Pacific Time Zone for the rest of the season.
1 – Kalli Schoening's .400 hitting percentage leads the WCC.
3 – Portland makes the third opponent for OSU from the Beaver State.
3- Three freshmen - Emma Lilo (58), Yasemin Narlioglu (125) and Alondra Paz (18) – have at least double-digit digs.
5 - OSU wraps up a five-match stretch all in the Willamette Valley – all either at home, in Eugene or Portland.

• Oregon State is opening league play with a home-and-away set.

• The Beavers will meet Portland for the 52nd time in a series that dates to 1980.
A NEW ERA STARTS
• Thursday marks the opening of the WCC era for Oregon State volleyball.
• For the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years, OSU is an affiliate member of the league before returning to a rebuilt Pac-12 in 2026-27.
• Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State will join the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
• Oregon State swept Portland State but fell to its B1G opposition - Washington and #12 Oregon - last week.
• The win over the Vikings snapped a seven-match skid, which started after the season opener against Fresno State.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
• Oregon State will look to win its second home opener under Coach Behonick and for the seventh time in eight tries, including the abbreviated 2020-21 season. The lone loss in the stretch came in the 2021 opener.
• The Beavers swept Oklahoma (25-19, 25-22, 25-16) to open the Behonick era at Gill Coliseum.
BIG SWINGS FROM SCHOENING
• Taking advantage of her final year of eligibility, Kalli Schoening has made her impact felt.
• Schoening - a Eugene native - leads the league with a .400 clip through 26 sets played.
LET'S GO, LO!
• Lauren Rumel finds herself near the top of the conference in both kills, kills-per-set, points and points-per-set going into league play.
• The Tucson, Ariz., product sits fourth with 127 kills (3.34/set) and sixth in points with 142.5 (3.75/set).
• She's among the WCC's leaders in kills in four-set matches, holding 2nd place (21 vs. Fresno State) and 6th (18 at Grand Canyon).
BATTLING THE WAVES
• Oregon State will look to snap a two-match skid to Pepperdine in the WCC debut.
• These sides last faced each other in the 2009 season in Fort Collins, Colo.
• 2008 was the last time Pepperdine visited Corvallis, where they took a five-set meeting.
SATURDAY IN THE ROSE CITY
• Oregon State's league road debut will take place in Portland.
• Despite being separated by just 91 miles, the Beavers and Pilots haven't (officially) played in seven years. OSU took a four-set win - 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17 - back in September 2017.
