Ly, Nakao Lead Beavers at Nanea Invitational in Hawai’i

KAILUA-KONA, Hawai'i – Kyra Ly and Raya Nakao both posted Top 15 finishes to lead the Oregon State women's golf team at the Nanea Invitational on Tuesday.
The Beavers concluded their fall season with an eighth-place finish, posting a 4-over 298-290-292—880 at the par-73, 6,449-yard Nanea Golf Club.
Ly led Oregon State, shooting all three rounds in red figures, to finish in a tie for 11th place with a 6-under 72-72-69—213. Nine of her 12 rounds this fall have been under par with the best being a 5-under 66 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
The senior from Portland had a sensational fall season with a share of the individual title at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship, and a tie for fourth place at both the Leadership and Golf Invitational and the Molly Collegiate Invitational.
Nakao finished in a tie for 14th place with a 4-under 71-70-74—215. The two sub-par scores gave her five in the 12 rounds this fall. She recorded two Top 10 finishes this to begin her junior campaign with a sixth place finish at the Leadership and Golf Invitational and a tie for sixth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.
True freshman Kate Nakaoka improved her score each day to finish in a tie for 35th place with a 3-over 77-73-72—222. She's off to a great start in her collegiate career with one Top 10 finish (Molly Collegiate Invitational) and three rounds in red figures.
Clara Alevag finished in a tie for 49th place with an 11-over 78-75-77—23- and true freshman Faith Tufono shot a 25-over 80-81-83—244 to finish in 60th place.
The Beavers will next open their spring season at the San Diego State Classic, which is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 9 and Tuesday, Feb. 10 at The Heights Golf Club in San Diego, Calif.
