Beavers Finish Comeback Win To Beaver Mean Green

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team completed a remarkable comeback to move to 3-0 with a 66-64 win over North Texas Wednesday evening at Gill Coliseum.
The Beavers trailed nearly the entire contest, falling behind by 13 with seven minutes left and by seven with under two to play, before battling back to take the win.
Numerous Oregon State players came up with big plays down the stretch to help secure the victory. Johan Munch brought the Beavers within four with a 3-point play in the closing minutes. Keziah Ekissi scored to pull OSU within two, and Josiah Lake II leveled the score from the stripe with three seconds on the clock. Lake hit another pair after a North Texas technical foul for attempting to call timeout when they had none remaining with one second to go, as Oregon State claimed the win.
Munch finished with 10 points and six rebounds on 3-for-5 shooting from the floor. Lake hit 8-of-9 free throw attempts to end his day with 10 points. Ekisssi and Isaiah Sy recorded nine points apiece. Dez White also scored nine, while Noah Amenhauser had seven points in only 10 minutes of playing time.
As a team, Oregon State shot 47.8 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent from 3-point range in the second half. The Beaver bench finished the night with 32 points.
Samar and Munch both hit early 3-pointers to put Oregon State up 6-5 early in the contest. The Mean Green took a 16-10 advantage into the under-12 media break. The defenses dominated the opening frame, as North Texas led 24-17 with 3:23 remaining in the period.
The Mean Green led 29-21 at the break.
North Texas went in front by 13 with 13 minutes to play, but a 6-0 Oregon State run got the Beavers back within six. The Mean Green brought the gap back to 13 with seven minutes remaining, but again the Beavers battled back. Munch came up with a big bucket with four minutes on the clock to bring the score to 61-55, and then Lake II knocked down a pair from the stripe to get OSU within four.
North Texas went back in front by seven late on, but the resilient Oregon State squad was able to claim the win.
The Beavers will head south on Monday to take on Oregon.
