Beavers Cruise To Win Over Utah Valley At Gill Coliseum

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Seven Beavers picked up victories to lead the Oregon State wrestling team to a dominant 25-9 win over Utah Valley on Sunday afternoon in front of 1,311 fans at Gill Coliseum.
Three of the seven Oregon State victors picked up at least one extra point.
Maximo Renteria, at 125 and ranked 17th nationally, opened the meet with an 11-1 major decision over No. 27 Bridger Ricks to improve to 5-0 this season and 21-9 in his collegiate career.
Freshman Manny Saldate followed Renteria with a 6-4 decision over Geronimo Rivera to give Oregon State an early 7-0 lead. The win moved Saldate's college record to 4-2.
The Beavers reeled off five-straight wins to clinch the home victory.
Freshman Joel Adams (157) won by decision over Mark Takara, 7-3, Keller Rock (165) had a 17-4 major decision over Zyon Trujillo, and Matthew Olguin (174) was dominant in a 21-6 technical fall over Tanner Hofthouse.
Adams moved to 4-2 in his freshman campaign, while Rock improved his season record to 3-2 and Olguin picked up his 49th career victory.
TJ McDonnell, the 28th-ranked wrestler in the nation at 184, was impressive in a 12-5 decision over No. 32 Caleb Uhlenhopp. McDonnell is now 4-1 this season with one major decision.
No. 9 Justin Rademacher (197) had a takedown in the final seconds to defeat Kael Bennie, 4-1, and stay perfect on the season with a 6-0 record. It's the 20th career win for the redshirt sophomore.
