
Beavers Fall to Lancers

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Cal Baptist 75-69 Saturday evening at Gill Coliseum.
Dez White led the Beavers with 14 points, going 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Malcolm Christie hit all three of his 3-point attempts to end his night with 10 points off the bench. Noah Amenhauser scored 10 points on 5-for-9 shooting.
Olavi Suutela made his second start of the season, knocking down five free throws to tally nine points. Johan Munch had six points, eight rebounds and four blocks off the bench.
As a team, Oregon State shot 42 percent from the floor and 40 percent from 3-point range. The Beavers move to 3-5 on the season while Cal Baptist remains perfect at 7-0.
Both teams struggled offensively out of the gate, as the Lancers took a 6-2 lead into the game's first media timeout. Oregon State heated up with an 8-0 run to take the lead. The Beavers were in front 18-14 at the under-8 media break.
The two teams were level at 26 with 3:25 left in the opening frame. The sides headed to the intermission level at 32.
Cal Baptist opened up a 49-43 advantage with 12 minutes remaining in the contest. The Lancers led by nine with nine minutes to play and by 11 with four minutes left, but back-to-back Christie 3-pointers put the Beavers back within five. Oregon State could not get over the hump from there, as the Lancers claimed the six-point win.
The Beavers will be back in Corvallis Wednesday when Vermont visits Gill Coliseum.
