
Beavers Take Win to Start Season 2-0

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with its's second straight victory, claiming a 76-73 win over UIC Friday evening at Gill Coliseum.
With the victory, the Beavers begin the season 2-0 for the fourth-straight year.
Josiah Lake II led the Beavers with a career-high 22 points, to go along with eight rebounds. Johan Munch narrowly missed a double-double, ending his evening with nine points and 10 boards. Matija Samar tallied 11 points and six assists.
Olavi Suutela went 3-for-3 in his first career start, finishing with seven points and five rebounds. Jorge Diaz Graham scored seven key points in the closing minutes, finishing 3-for-3 from the floor in limited playing time.
As a team, Oregon State shot 47 percent from the floor. OSU out-rebounded UIC 38-23.
The Beavers hit four-consecutive 3-pointers to start the game, opening up an early 12-2 lead. Oregon State was in front 20-4, but the Flames scored 17-straight points to take the lead at 21-20. The two sides traded punches from there, with the Beavers up 25-23 with 7:30 remaining in the opening period.
A Munch post move leveled the score at 32 at the under-4 media break of the first half. Keziah Ekissi hit a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to send Oregon State to the intermission leading 42-37.
UIC used a 7-0 run to go in front 52-51 at the under-12 media break. Samar tied the game up from the free throw stripe with six minutes to play in the contest. Diaz Graham made some big buckets down the stretch, and Josiah Lake hit a jumper to put the Beavers up by three in the closing minutes.
The Flames continued to battle down the stretch, but Oregon State knocked down its free throws to close out the win.
The Beavers will be back in action Wednesday when they take on North Texas at Gill Coliseum.
