February 16, 2025 | Women's Gymnastics
DENVER, Colo. – Oregon State senior Jade Carey won her seventh all-around title in as many meets as the Beavers finished in second place at the Denver Quad, scoring a 196.950.
Carey's 39.725 marked the third time that she's finished with a 39.725 or higher this season, with Sunday's the product of a 9.925 vault score, 9.900 on bars, 9.975 on beam and 9.925 on floor. The 9.975 on beam was her fifth 9.975 of the season, having previously earned three on beam and one on bars.
Oregon State's beam team once again proved to be the highest scoring lineup, finishing with a 49.350 rotation score that saw every single athlete finish with a 9.825 or higher. Sophia Esposito's 9.850 was followed by a pair of 9.825s from Olivia Buckner and Lauren Letzsch; Jennifer McMillan and Sydney Gonzales both earned 9.850s before Carey's 9.975 in the anchor spot.
Esposito competed three events on Sunday, earning a pair of 9.850s on beam and floor to go with a 9.775 vault score. The reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Esposito now has a 9.850 or better on both beam and floor in four-consecutive meets.
One week after twice reaching her career high on floor, Sage Thompson's strong run of form continued, as the Lehi, Utah, native earned a 9.875 on that apparatus to go with a 9.850 on the bars and vaulting her way to a 9.775. Sunday's routine marks five-consecutive meets with a 9.850 or better on floor while the bars score was her fourth 9.850-plus of the season.
Kaitlin Garcia gave the vault lineup a much-needed boost with a 9.850 while Taylor DeVries made her return to the bars squad, posting a 9.825 in the leadoff spot. Natalie Briones' 9.875 on bars set a new season high with the Gilbert, Ariz., native also earning a 9.800 for her vault in the third rotation.
Oregon State gymnastics returns to action next weekend, traveling to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete against Arizona, Arkansas and Southeast Missouri State at the Metroplex Challenge.
