Johnson Among Individual Leaders, Beavers Third At Redhawk Invite

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Rylan Johnson shot a 1-under 141 over the first two rounds of the Seattle Redhawk Invitational as the Oregon State men's golf team is tied for third after the first 36 holes of play on Monday.
Oregon State finished with a team total of 12-over 580 and is three shots out of the lead held by Utah Tech and St. Thomas at the par-71 Chambers Bay Golf Course.
Johnson took advantage of nine birdies on Monday, which is among the most at the tournament, to tie for fourth after day one.
He opened with four birdies in the first round, in which he finished at par. He bettered that in round two with five birdies and a 1-under 70 tally. He is just two shots out of first heading into the final 18 holes.
Bradley Smolinski was the lone Beaver to finish with an eagle, do so on the par-5, 541-yard 18th hole in the first round. That led him to a 1-under 70 to open, and after a 4-over 75, finished 3-over at 145, tying him for 18th.
He finished day one with five birdies.
Collin Hogdkinson shot back-to-back 2-over 73 rounds, finishing at 4-over on the day. He posted six birdies on the day and enters the final 18 holes tied for 24th.
Brandon Eyre also shot a 2-over 73 in the first round, and ended with a 4-over 75 over the second round of 18. Eyre connected on five birdies overall, and enters the last day of play tied for 30th.
Stanley Lin was one of the three Beavers with a 2-over 73, and ended the day with a 7-over 149. He is tied for 40th. Brody Marconi competed as an individual, and finished the day with a 12-over 154. He is tied for 78th.
Lin tallied five birdies Monday while Marconi had four.
