Personal Bests Lead the Beavs Through Weekend

MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Oregon State Track and Field team finished its weekend at the John Knight Twilight with four first place finishes.
On Friday, Eliza Eckman led the way in the 1,500 meters, clocking a personal-best 4:39.47 to finish 7th and pick up 2 points. Delaney Ulrichplaced was 4th overall in 4:37.05, Grace Rubio finished in 4:47.21, while Ava McKee came through in 4:53.95 to round out the group.
Saturday featured a big day in the field events, highlighted by a Beaver sweep in the pole vault. Mia Fowler and Maddy Juhler both cleared 3.60m/11-9.75 to share first place and earn 6 points each, while Carly Strand added a 5th-place finish at 3.15m/10-4.
In the high jump, Dede Norman came out on top with a mark of 1.75m/5-8.75, with Grace Proudfoot right behind her in 2nd at 1.65m/5-5.
On the track, Riley Patera delivered a standout performance, winning the 400 meters in a personal-best 56.93, which added 10 points to the team total and earned her the #10 spot on OSU's all-time list. She returned later in the day to take 3rd in the 200 meters with another personal-best, this time running 25.11 for 6 more points.
Ava McKee bounced back in the 800 meters to finish 2nd in 2:16.49 and add 8 points to the board, while Ruby Lorenz clocked 2:19.91 for 9th. In the 200 meters, Mersayis Shedd also competed and finished 16th in 26.59.
