April 18, 2025 | Women's Golf
FAIRFIELD, Calif. – The Oregon State women's golf team took over sole possession of first place after another strong round at the West Coast Conference Championship on Friday.
The Beavers have the lead with an even-par 286-290—576 at the par-72, 6,180-yard Green Valley Country Club, three strokes better than Pepperdine's 3-over 579. Santa Clara was tied with Oregon State after the first round but fell to third with an 11-over 286-301—587.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and live scoring is available at this link. The champion of the WCC tournament receives an automatic bid for the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships.
Raya Nakao remained in first place individually with a 4-under 66-74—140. After dropping eight birdies during Thursday's opening round, she had four more in the first seven holes on Friday and battled the rest of the way for a 2-over 74.
Nakao's best career finish is a tie for fourth place at the Nanea Invitational this past fall, and her best 54-hole score is an 8-under 208 at the Molly Collegiate Invitational in 2023.
Eva Pett of San Francisco (2-under 142) and Janeath Wong of Pepperdine (1-under 143) are the only other golfers in red figures heading into the final round.
Rebecca Kim had the Beavers' best score in the second round, a 2-under 70, that moved her eight spots up the leaderboard to 21st place with a 7-over 81-70—151. She had three birdies and only one bogey on Friday for the 70, which was one stroke off her career best score of 3-under 69 at the Causeway Invitational earlier this spring.
Kyra Ly continued her consistent play with an even-par 72 that jumped her four spots up the leaderboard to fifth place with a 1-over 73-72—145. She had three birdies in the second round after getting two on Thursday.
Madde Sund remained in the Top 10, tied for eighth place overall, with a 2-over 71-75—146, while Clara Alevag is in 19th place with a 6-over 76-74—150.
