First Eight Named Crew of the Week for Third Time in Spring Season
April 22, 2025 | Women's Rowing
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Oregon State's varsity eight boat has been named West Coast Conference Crew of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Coxed by Taylor Denger, the boat featured Giulia Clerici, Charlotte Lightfoot, Lauren Garrett, Rhi Loughnan, Tulla Angeley, Annelise Norkitis, Ashtyn Miller and Linda Weitmann, who competed in the 2025 Big Ten Invite.
Oregon State's first eight competed in three different races in Sarasota, Fla., claiming an open water victory in its second of the day on Friday, completing the course in 6:27.033 to finish ahead of Michigan State (6:32.687), No. 24 Southern California (6:33.379), Clemson (6:33.829), Notre Dame (6:37.318) and Minnesota (6:37.608).
OSU added third place finishes in its first and third races of the weekend, coming in behind No. 6 Tennessee and less than half a second behind No. 14 Ohio State in the opener on Friday and behind No. 9 Rutgers and No. 21 Indiana but ahead of No. 16 Duke, No. 24 Southern California and Alabama on Saturday.
The varsity eight's victory on Friday made it three-consecutive regattas with a win, all of which have come over ranked opponents after besting then-ranked No. 21 Gonzaga on March 21, then-ranked No. 24 Washington State on April 5, and No. 24 Southern California at the Big Ten Invite.
After a bye week, OSU women's rowing returns to action on home waters, welcoming Southern California, San Diego and Sacramento State to the Willamette Valley for a regatta at Dexter Reservoir on May 3.
