Oregon State Men’s Rowing Set for Inaugural MPSF Championship
May 15, 2025 | Men's Rowing
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Oregon State men's rowing will compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship this weekend, slated for May 17-18 at Lake Natoma.
Racing will start on Saturday at 12:30 and 12:40 p.m. with two heats of varsity eight action, which are followed by two heats of second varsity eight racing at 12:50 and 1. On Sunday, the novice eight, varsity four and third varsity eight have grand finals at 9 a.m., 9:12 a.m. and 9:24 a.m.; for the 2V8, there's a Petite Final at 9:36 a.m. and Grand Final at 9:48 a.m., while the V8's Petite Final starts at 10 a.m. and the Grand Final is at 10:12 a.m.
Beaver men's rowing was last in action May 2-3 at a regatta in Philadelphia, Pa., competing against Penn, Cornell and Holy Cross; OSU swept its three head-to-head races against Holy Cross with a pair of sub-six times in the first and second eight.
When the updated rankings came out on Wednesday, the varsity eight held steady at No. 20 while the 2V8 (20) and 3V8 (16) were also ranked in the top-20 among Division I rowing programs.
In order to automatically qualify for the IRA Championships, OSU must finish this weekend's regatta in sixth place or better; in other words, reaching the A final, which is achieved by finishing in the top-two of each race on Saturday, would guarantee a trip to New Jersey.
The IRA National Championship regatta is scheduled for May 30 – June 1, 2025, on the Cooper River.
