September 10, 2025 | Women's Rowing
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Clare Hunsberger has joined the Oregon State women's rowing coaching staff, Director of Rowing Michael Eichler announced on Wednesday.
"I am excited to welcome Clare to Oregon State. Her passion for the sport and ability to connect with student-athletes were evident throughout our interview process and I know she'll translate those leadership skills into coaching at OSU," Eichler said. "I look forward to watching her flex and grow her talents as a member of this staff and am eager to see how she'll inspire and develop our rowers both as athletes and as people."
Hunsberger recently finished her collegiate rowing career, where she was a four-year member of the Indiana women's rowing team.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the staff at Oregon State and am eager to help continue the tradition of excellence that Coach Eichler and this staff have established," Hunsberger said. "I can't wait to get on the water with our athletes and look forward to doing everything I can to help this team on its pursuit of a second-consecutive conference championship."
A team captain from 2023-25, she earned a third-place medal at the Big Ten Championship with the second varsity eight in 2024, helping the Hoosiers to a second-place finish. She also rowed at the NCAA Championships every single year from 2023-25, all with the Hoosiers' 2V8.
Her success on the water included an invitation to the US Rowing U23 Selection Development Camp in 2023, where she was one of 20 athletes across all NCAA schools who trained for 30-plus hours a week before placing third in the age division at Summer Nationals.
Academically, Hunsberger was a member of the Dean's List in the Fall of 2024 and was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2025, earning the IU Athletics Academic Achievement Award, graduating with her bachelor's in public health with a minor in coaching in May of 2025.
Outside the classroom, she participated in the Academy of Future Coaches, engaging in weekly seminars aimed at teaching the next generation of coaches and providing opportunities to connect and learn from members of the rowing community.
Oregon State women's rowing is coming off a fantastic 2024-25 season, winning the West Coast Conference and racing at the NCAA Championships.
