Oregon State Notables
• Oregon State and San Diego are meeting for the 25th time in the series opener Friday. The beavers have the all-time series record, 14-10.
• That series advantage is due in large part to a nine-game win streak that began in 2016 in San Diego.
• The Beavers swept a three-game series at Goss Stadium last season. That included a 2-0 win in game two that featured a Easton Talt walkoff home run.
• This season's visit is the first to the Toreros' home park since that 2016 series. OSU played three games there with just two against San Diego. OSU was also a 12-3 winner over William and Mary on that visit.
• San Diego owns an 8-6 advantage in games played on its home turf.
• Dax Whitney, Friday's probable starter, struck out 10 in six scoreless innings in that game two matchup last season. He walked one and scattered five hits in the Beavers' win.
• Whitney has a nation's-best 45 strikeouts over his first four starts of 2026. He has 39 strikeouts over his last 19 1/3 innings.
• The Beavers swiped three bases in Monday's win. Those marked the first stolen bases for the Beavers since Feb. 21 against Southern Miss.
• Adam Haight enters the opener on a team-best nine-game hit streak. He is followed closely by Jacob Galloway who is on an eight-game hit streak.
• Friday's game is the second true road contest for OSU this season, but the 12th to be played away from home. The Beavers' lone road game was a 10-6 win at Oregon last week. Oregon State is also 6-4 in neutral-site games.
• OSU enters the game with 189 strikeouts on the mound. The Beavers rank fourth nationally with 12.5 strikeouts for per nine innings. Whitney, meanwhile, ranks fifth with 16.64 strikeouts per nine.
• Oregon State's six-game win streak is tied for the 11th-longest active streak nationally.
• OSU is 7-1 when scoring first this season.
