PORTLAND, Ore. – The No. 23-ranked Oregon State men's soccer team earned a road draw Sunday evening, as the Beavers and Portland finished scoreless at Merlo Field in Portland, Ore.

The Beavers looked like they might grab a late winner with numerous scoring chances in the closing minutes, including a Mark Wieder header off the crossbar. Overall, the Beavers recorded seven shots in the contest, two of which were on goal.

Scoring chances proved hard to come by early in the contest. Gonzalo Aranaz nearly put the Beavers in the 31^st minute, but his effort from 12 yards out bounced just wide of the post. John Nicolson came up with a big save in the 38^th minute, reacting quickly to stop a shot from close range. Max Eisenberg fired one just off target in the 43^rd minute, as the teams headed to the break level at zero.

Nicolson came up with a couple big saves early in the second half. Wyatt Borso nearly found himself in on goal mid-way through the second half, but could not get the necessary touch to get a shot away. Aidan Marquez placed a shot on frame in the 78^th minute, but the effort was saved.

Wieder nearly handed the Beavers the victory in the final five minutes, but his header clanged off the crossbar. Oregon State continued to attack down the stretch, but neither side was able to break the deadlock.

Nicolson finished with four saves as he held the clean sheet.

The Beavers will hit the road next Sunday for a matchup with UC Santa Barbara.
