Volleyball Begins Pac-12 Play at Home

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State volleyball will open Pac-12 play this weekend inside legendary Gill Coliseum, welcoming the Washington State Cougars to Corvallis for a 1 p.m. match.

A NEW ERA STARTS NOW
After two seasons competing in the West Coast Conference, Saturday's match will be OSU's first back in the Pac-12, which added Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State to a conference that already included the Beavers and Washington State. Also new this season is the first ever Pac-12 Championship Tournament, which will take place the week of Nov. 23 on the campus of whichever team posts the highest first half conference winning percentage.

HISTORY BECKONS
Jackie Matias transferred to Oregon State ahead of last season and has since played a pivotal role for the Beavers. After a strong junior campaign, the Honolulu, Hawai'i, native has totaled 350 assists through 36 sets played in 2026 and is now just nine assists away from reaching 1,000 in orange and black. In fact, her 991 to date already puts her at no. 15 in the all-time OSU record book, despite playing just 137 sets.

She had a 53-assist performance earlier this season - which put her in a two-way tie for highest single match total by any athlete in the Pac-12 this season - and enters this weekend's match ranking second in the conference for total assists (350) and assists per set (9.72).

ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK... DEFEND DEFEND DEFEND
The Beaver attack exceled in its last home match, hitting .435 in a sweep of in-state foes Portland State, which was the first time since Sept. 11, 2025, that the team hit .400 or better in a match. The performance saw ever single player who recorded at least one attack hit better than .300.

Defensively, the Beavers dominated at the net, holding PSU to a .087 percentage, and had a pair of athletes tally double-digit digs.

TAYLOR'S TAKEOVER
Taylor Treahy went on a heater in the third set of Friday's win over Portland State, amassing eight of her match-high 16 kills in the final frame, also adding two blocks, as the Beavers won 25-14 to take a 3-0 win over the Vikings. Currently playing her first season at OSU after two years at George Washington, Treahy enters Saturday's match ranking fifth in the Pac-12 with an average of 3.45 kills per set; Friday's performance was her third match with 15+ kills this season.

TARAY TIME
Taray Tela has started nine of her 10 appearances in 2026 and had a solid showing against both Portland State and Oregon over the weekend, hitting .542 across the two matches and six sets played. In Friday's matchup with the Vikings, she hit .467 with eight kills and five blocks, following that up with six kills, two blocks and a .667 hitting percentage against No. 23 Oregon. Entering this weekend's contest with Washington State, Tela ranks sixth in the Pac-12 with a .325 hitting percentage, totaling 59 kills and 24 blocks.

KILLING IT
Oregon State's offense has been tremendous this season and is among the Pac-12's most potent. With Treahy and AC Froehlich both in the top five for individual kills per set and Matias in second place for assists and assists per set, the Beaver attack leads the conference with 476 kills this season, an average of 13.22 per set, and leads in assists per set (12.17) while ranking second in points per set (16.94).

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
- Matias was named Pac-12 Setter of the Week on Tuesday, her second time earning recognition from the conference this season. With the announcement, she became the first Beaver since 2017 to earn two or more Pac-12 weekly awards in the same season.

- Isabel Bertelsen finished with dig totals of 17 and 10 over the weekend, making it four-consecutive matches in double figures and six of her last seven.

- Froehlich hit .467 against PSU, finishing with nine kills, adding eight more against Portland State. Through 36 sets played this season, she's up to 133 kills, which is one more than her total across three seasons at LSU, and is third-most in the Pac-12.
