Pac-12 Play Continues with Pair of Home Matches

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Coming off a hard-fought five set victory over Washington State, Oregon State volleyball will remain at home for its next two, welcoming the Texas State Bobcats and Fresno State Bulldogs into Gill Coliseum.

HARD FOUGHT
Oregon State won an instant classic over Washington State in its last match, marking the team's first victory in conference play. After falling in the first set, OSU responded with a commanding 25-18 set win in the second, dropping set three 27-25 before winning 25-20 in the fourth. The fifth set was a wild affair that included 20 tied scores, six lead changes and a combined 15 match points, but a gritty performance by the Beavers lead to a 29-27 set win to claim the match.

FIRSTS
Beaver volleyball achieved multiple firsts in Saturday's victory over Washington State. The win was the first by any Oregon State team in Pac-12 play since the conference relaunched over the summer, and it was also both the team's first five-set match this season and first five set victory since a reverse sweep of Saint Mary's on Nov. 6, 2025. In the 2026 season, it was OSU's first time winning a match in which it had lost the first set.

EFFICIENT
Taray Tela's breakout sophomore campaign continued against the Cougars, hitting an incredible .652 on her way to 16 kills, two assists and four blocks. She had five of her kills in the Beavers' 25-18 second set victory and the efficient hitting performance improved her season average to .377, which leads the team and ranks third in the Pac-12. If the season ended today, that would rank second best in a single season in program history, second only to Julie Steding's .421 in 1983.

HOW MANY HELPERS?!
Jackie Matias became the first Oregon State player to record 60-plus assists in nearly 15 years against WSU, finishing with 68, which is the highest single match total since Tayla Woods was credited with 61 against Long Beach State on Sept. 20, 2013. With 16 in the fifth set alone, Saturday's performance was the highest mark by a single player in the Pac-12 this season as she enters this weekend's matches at no. 2 in the conference for assists (418) and assists per set (10.20).

For her efforts, Matias earned her second-consecutive Pac-12 Setter of the Week award and third this season.

FIVER
Isabel Bertelsen played her way into the Oregon State lineup this season and had another strong showing against WSU. In fact, the Orlando, Fla., native extended her streak of matches with double-digit digs up to five matches, totaling 16, and has now finished with 10-plus in seven of her last eight appearances; her 149 digs this season and average of 3.63 per set both lead the team.

KILLIN' IT
Much has been written about the success of AC Froehlich this season, but her stupendous senior season continued Saturday as she finished with a line of 27 kills, eight digs and three blocks. With the performance, she became the first Beaver to record 25 or more kills in a match since Mychael Vernon finished with 29 against California Baptist on Sept. 9, 2023, while her 60 attempts was the first 60-plus attempt performance since the 2019 season.

Through 12 matches played in 2026, Froehlich is now up to 160 kills, an average of 3.90 per set.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Taylor Treahy recorded her second double-double of the season in Oregon State's last match, amassing 17 kills and 11 digs across five sets played. The Santa Clarita, Calif., native notched a 17 kill, 14 dig performance in a four-set win over Utah Valley earlier this season and has reached double-digit kills in five matches thus far. With 117 on the season, Treahy's 3.44 per set is the fifth highest mark in the Pac-12.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
- Cheyenne Green took over in the fifth set of OSU's win, tallying six of her 15 kills in the final frame. Saturday's performance set a new career high mark for the Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

- Beatrice Spada's ability from the service line played a big role in the Beaver win, finishing with three in the match. It was the second time in three matches that she's finished with multiple aces, totaling two in a sweep of Portland State last week.

- With the win, Oregon State is now 5-0 when playing inside Gill Coliseum this season. Including 2025, Beaver volleyball is now 15-3 in its last 18 home matches.

A NEW ERA STARTS NOW
OSU is back in the Pac-12 after two seasons competing in the West Coast Conference, adding Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State to a conference that already included the Beavers and Washington State. Also new this season is the first ever Pac-12 Championship Tournament, which will take place the week of Nov. 23 on the campus of whichever team posts the highest first half conference winning percentage.

Oregon State volleyball is on the road for its next four matches, facing San Diego State, Colorado State, Texas State and Fresno State before returning home to host Utah State on Oct. 24.
