2012-13

Rowed in the stroke seat of the Varsity 8 in a second place finish at the Portland Fall Classic … raced in the 2-seat of the V8 in wins at the University of Victoria and at Gonzaga … rowed in the 2-seat of the V8 at the Pac-12 Invitational including a win over Northeastern … raced in the 2-seat of the V8 at the Clemson Invitational registering wins over Miami, Penn, Tennessee, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Texas and Central Florida … rowed in the 2-seat of the V8 at the Oregon State Classic helping her crew to wins over San Diego (twice) and Syracuse … rowed in the 2-seat of the V8 at the Pac-12 Championships … named a 2012 CRCA National Scholar-Athlete … earned 2013 Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.

2011-12

Rowed in the Varsity 8 the entire season … rowed in the 7-seat of the V8 at University of Victoria and in a win over Gonzaga … raced in the 3-seat of the V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic including win in heat racing and a second place finish in the Grand Final of the SeaWorld Cal Cup … rowed in the 3-seat of the V8 at the Michigan Invitational, at Washington State and at Pac-12 Championships … earned 2012 Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team Team … accepted to participate in the 2012 NCAA National Career in Sport Forum in Indianapolis in June.

2010-11

Karly raced in several boats, mostly the Varsity 4+, in 2011 … rowed in the stroke seat of the V4+, helping the Beavers to a fifth place finish in the Grand Finals at the San Diego Crew Classic … rowed in the Second Varsity 8 at the Lake Natoma Invitational and at Pac-10 Championships … raced in the Second Varsity 4+ at the Elk Lake Spring Regatta and at Gonzaga … earned Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team.

2009-10

Rowed in the bow seat of the Novice 8 boat … N8 posted wins against Gonzaga, Victoria, UCLA, Washington State and placed fourth at Pac-10 Championships.

CORVALLIS HS

Member of the varsity basketball team for three years, winning league and attending state for two … varsity golf all four years, went to state as an individual in 2008 and 2009 … member of the National Honor Society … helped coordinate the Mr. Spartan 2009 pageant and raised over $126,000 for the Mario Pastega House and the Good Samaritan Cancer Foundation in Corvallis, Ore.

PERSONAL

Daughter of Stewart and Laurie Laney … has two siblings, Andrew and, twin sister, Kayla … Kayla is also on the OSU women's rowing team … contemplating a career as a P.E. and health high school teacher … favorite athlete is LeBron James … chose to attend Oregon State because "I bleed black and orange" … when Karly isn't rowing she enjoys basketball, golf, spending time with her family and friends, music and playing her guitar … majoring in exercise and sport science with an emphasis in physical education teacher education and a minor in public health.
