Volleyball Concludes Season With Loss To Arizona

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State volleyball team concluded the 1999 season with a 3-0 loss to No. 19 Arizona on Saturday night. Game scores were 15-3, 15-6 and 15-11.
Junior Sanna Jensen came in off the bench in game two and led the Beavers with eight kills and a team-best .545 hitting percentage. Angie Shirley and Gina Schmidt each added six kills for OSU.
Arizona's Marisa DaLee was the only player with double-figure kills, she hit .563 with 11 kills on the night. Lisa Rutledge added nine kills and hit a match-high .643.
Jessica Papell turned in a match-high six digs, but the Beavers were outdug, 37-23 for the match. Schmidt had five digs, as did three Wildcats.
Arizona also won the battle at the net, outblocking the Beavers 9-7 but Shirley did knock down a match-best six blocks. It was the seventh time this year that she had six blocks in a match.
OSU finished the season with an 8-18 overall record and a 2-16 mark in Pac-10 play. Arizona improved to 18-9 and 12-6.
