OSU Opens Trip With A Win

DAVIS, Calif. - Oregon State got back-to-back pins from 149-pounder Andy Frey and 157-pounder Eric Jorgensen as the 21st-ranked Beavers beat Cal-Davis 28-11 in Pacific-10 wrestling Friday afternoon. The Beavers (7-4 overall, 3-1 Pacific-10), who have won five straight dual meets, now wrestle at Stanford on Friday night before concluding their trip at Cal Poly on Saturday night.
Jorgensen, ranked fourth nationally, won his 21st straight match by pinning the Aggies' Burt Pierson in 2:44. Jorgensen is 21-1 with four pins this season, and in 15 of his 22 matches he has earned team bonus points for a pin, technical fall, major decision or forfeit.
Frey earned his first pin of the season by flattening Cal-Davis' Kief Zangaro in 2:34. The Beavers also got a major decision from eighth-ranked heavyweight Jason Cooley, who defeated Brandon Arsenault 12-4.
