Oregon State was held to three shots on Saturday in a 2-1 loss at No. 6 Portland, with Tessa Baker converting her second goal in as many games as the Beavers fell to 4-6-1.
Baker's fifth goal of the year came in the 88th minute on a seven-yard blast with the Beavers down 2-0.
Portland, the defending national champion, took an early lead in the 11th minute when Imani Dorsey converted a corner kick from Lindsey Huie after OSU keeper Melissa Onstad mishandled the kick.
Huie's second assist of the day set up Angie Woznuk's score at the 58:16 mark to give Portland a 2-0 lead.
The Pilots outshot OSU 18-3 overall and owned an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks. OSU's loss came less than 24 hours after defeating Weber State 4-0 on Friday in Corvallis.
The game marked the second year in a row OSU lost a tight match to Portland by a count of 2-1.
Baker now leads OSU in scoring with 11 points on five goals and an assist after seven points as a freshman.
OSU opens Pacific-10 Conference play Friday, Oct. 10 when it hosts Oregon at 3 p.m. at Lorenz Field at Valley Stadium in teams' annual Civil War matchup.
