CLEMSON, S.C. – The Oregon State women's rowing team completed competition on the final day of the Clemson Invite with a pair of races on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina.
The Beavers finished in fourth place in each of their races Sunday morning, crossing the finish line in 6:57.5 in the Varsity 8+ and in 7:12.6 in the 2nd Varsity 8+. In all, OSU was on the water for nine races during the two day event, earning two second place finishes, a third, three fourth place finishes alongside two fifths and a sixth.
“Overall, this weekend was a good step for us. I thought the crews raced well during all the races and through a lot of different conditions," said OSU head coach Emily Ford. "It is clear that we have picked up some speed over the last three weeks and I was pleased to see us finish in the top half of a strong and deep field of teams. The team had a lot of fun racing and we are looking forward to building on the momentum we gained this weekend.”
Ford's team finished fourth or better in six out of their nine races this past weekend and now focuses its attention on the Oregon State Classic, Saturday, April 27th at Dexter Lake in Lowell, Ore., where the Beavers will host Pac-12 schools Washington State and Stanford as well as Syracuse and San Diego.
