LOS ANGELES - Ryan Barnes posted two hits and Dylan Davis doubled home a run in the eighth inning but the sixth-ranked Oregon State baseball team dropped a 3-2 decision to No. 10 UCLA Friday night at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Davis doubled home Barnes, who had his second single of the game in the eighth, but was left on second base to end the inning as the tying run.

Kevin Williams homered to lead off the fifth for UCLA, which took the opening game of the series to improve to 19-7 overall and 7-3 in Pac-12 Conference play. Williams' home run snapped a 1-1 deadlock.

The Bruins added to their lead with a solo run after two Oregon State (23-5, 5-2) errors in the seventh.

Matt Boyd was saddled with the loss, the second of his career and first since 2010, after going 6 2/3 innings. The lefty allowed four hits and three runs - two earned - while striking out five. Boyd dropped to 6-1 this season.

Adam Plutko, Boyd's counterpart, picked up the win to improve to 3-2 this season. He worked seven innings, allowing two singles to go along with three walks and six strikeouts.

David Berg collected his sixth save of the season after working 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Oregon State scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first. Barnes reached and moved to second on an error to lead off the game, then went to third when Andy Peterson reached on a bunt single. Barnes scored when Plutko was called for a balk.

The Bruins tied the game in the fourth when Pat Gallagher hit a double that hugged the right field line, enabling Shane Zeile to come in from first.
