
Eubanks Has 23 Points, 16 Rebounds In OT Setback

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Sophomore center Drew Eubanks had 23 points, 16 rebounds and six blocked shots but Oregon State fell 93-90 to Savannah State in overtime on Sunday before a crowd of 4,268 at Gill Coliseum.
It was the second double-double of the season and the third of his career for Eubanks. He was 8 of 12 from the field and 7 of 10 from the foul line in scoring 20 or more points for the second time this season.
Redshirt freshman guard Kendal Manuel added a career-high 18 points and sophomore guard Stephen Thompson Jr. had 17 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Thompson Jr. set a career high for rebounds (9) for the second game in a row and he tied his career best for assists, also set at Charlotte on Dec. 3.
Freshman guard JaQuori McLaughlin had 12 points. It was the seventh time in 10 games he's scored in double figures.
The Tigers (3-8) led 50-44 at halftime. Regulation ended 84-84 after McLaughlin scored a 3-pointer with 1:28 to play. Both teams missed potential game-winning shots in the final six seconds of regulation.
OSU scored first in the overtime but Savannah State went ahead to stay, 89-86, on a 3-pointer with 2:25 to play. The Beavers had a chance to tie with two seconds remaining but McLaughlin's 3-pointer from the left wing didn't fall as time expired.
Freshman forward Ben Koné, sidelined until Sunday by a knee injury sustained during his senior year at Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, made his OSU debut and had four points, two rebounds, a steal and an assist in 10 minutes.
The Beavers resume action at 8 p.m. Friday against Long Beach State in their first game at the Dam City Classic at the Moda Center in Portland. The game will be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
They conclude the Dam City Classic against Portland at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, also at the Moda Center. That game will also be televised by the Pac-12 Network.
Their next game at Gill Coliseum is against Kent State on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Tipoff is at 8 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPNU.
