Beavers Finish Regular Season at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. – Oregon State's women's rowing team completed the regular season Saturday morning at No. 13 Washington State's Wawawai Landing.
“Today we showed some good improvements from two weeks ago and identified some places we can gain speed before Pac-12's. So today's race gave us exactly what we needed,” head coach Emily Ford said. “Thank you to Washington State for putting on a great event.”
OSU's Varsity 8 battled in a tight race with the Cougars needing just 6-minutes, 23.17-seconds to cover the 2,000-meter course at Wawawai Landing near Pullman. The Beavers crossed the finish just over four seconds behind the Cougars.
In the Second Varsity 8 category, the Beavers stayed close with the Cougars throughout the course, but came up five seconds short finishing in a time of 6:37.13.
WSU earned a win over Oregon State's in the Varsity 4+ crossing the finish line 11 seconds ahead, 7:24.78-7:36.06.
Most of OSU's crews from the fours doubled up to form the Third Varsity 8, finishing second (7:04.56) between a pair of WSU crews. WSU's 3V8 recorded a time of 6:50.41 while the 'B' crew came in with a time of 7:07.47.
Oregon State's Second Varsity 4+ race finished third behind a two Cougar crews and ahead of a third. The Beavers came in at 7:42.88, five seconds behind WSU's 'B' crew.
Saturday's regatta was the final race for the Beavers leading up to the Pac-12 Championships May 15 in Gold River, Calif.
