Beavers Open Season with Win

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. – The Oregon State women's rowing opened the spring season with the Varsity 8 racing to victory over UCLA Saturday morning.
The OSU V8 earned a first place finish over the Bruins covering the course with a time of 7-minutes, 2.8-seconds pulling in nearly four seconds ahead of UCLA (7:07.00).
In the Second Varsity 8 race, UCLA (7:13.60) edged out the Oregon State crew (7:18.80) by five seconds.
The Beavers' Varsity 4+, which is largely powered by a crew of novices, rowed against a pair of UCLA crews in the opening race of the day finishing third.
Oregon State will be idle next week before hosting Gonzaga for the Beavers' only home regatta of the year at Dexter Lake on March 31.
