Rowers Come Up Short at No. 15 Washington State

COLTON, Wash. – The Oregon State women's rowing team took on crews from Washington State on the Snake River Friday evening. Four OSU crews came up short to the 15th-ranked team in the nation.
The OSU V8 suffered its first loss of the year, after recording wins at UCLA and against Gonzaga in March, pulling in five seconds behind No. 15 Washington State Friday evening. The Beavers recorded a time of 6-minutes, 28.6-seconds to the Cougars 6:23.4.
The Beavers' Second Varsity 8, which is crewed by several novices, covered the course in 6:45.5 but pulled in 11-seconds behind the Cougars (6:34.3).
In the Varsity 4+ race, Oregon State's crew (7:41.9) earned a second place finish trailing the WSU 'A' crew (7:21.2) while beating the Cougars' 'B' boat (7:48.6).
Oregon State's Third Varsity 8 rowed to a third place finish in a four-boat field. WSU's 3V8 turned in a time of 6:48.2, while their Novice 8 crossed the line in 7:02.12. The Beavers' third place crew (7:08.49) came in ahead of WSU's Second Novice 8 (7:16.81) but eight seconds.
The Beavers will race again, for the third straight weekend, at the Clemson Invitational, April 14-15.
