CORVALLIS – The Oregon State wrestling team dropped its first Pac-12 Conference dual of the season on Sunday night falling to No. 21 Arizona State inside of Gill Coliseum.
The Beavers (2-5, 1-1 Pac-12) dropped a 20-13 decision to the Sun Devils (4-6, 1-0 Pac-12) in the 41st all-time meeting between the two schools.
The night began at the 157-pound weight class that featured two nationally ranked wrestlers. No. 18 Hunter Willits for Oregon State got in deep on a few shots in the first period, but the defense of No. 14 Pagdilao netted a 0-0 first period. Willits earned an escape for a 1-0 lead in the second period, but fell by decision 2-1.
The Beavers dropped major decisions at 165 and 174 pounds; Aaron Olmos lost 11-3 to No. 5 Josh Shields, while Colt Doyle lost 17-4 to No. 2, and defending NCAA champ, Zahid Valencia.

With the match heading to sudden victory tied 3-3, Grant used solid defense to escape a single-leg attack from Austyn Harris (ASU). On the next whistle Grant secured the 5-3 decision and three team points for Oregon State.
