
Beavers Drop Rivalry Matchup in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team battled back from a 13-point halftime deficit to take the lead, but could not take the victory as the Ducks claimed the win 77-68 Saturday evening in Eugene.
Dexter Akanno dropped 20 points, shooting 6-for-11 from the floor and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Glenn Taylor Jr. tallied 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting, and Tyler Bilodeau tallied 10 points and six rebounds.
Freshmen Jordan Pope and Michael Rataj finished with eight points apiece. KC Ibekwe came off the bench to tally five points on 2-for-2 shooting.
The Beavers fought back from the halftime deficit go in front with just over 13 minutes to play. Oregon State was within five with two minutes to go.
Oregon State knocked down its first three field goal attempts to jump out to an early lead. The Beavers headed to the game's first media break in front 15-13. Oregon surged back to take a 23-17 advantage with 11 minutes to go before the break.
The Ducks took an 11-point lead a little more than five minutes before the break, but Ibekwe helped spark an Oregon State run, as the Beavers got within six with four minutes on the clock. Oregon headed to the break up 44-31.
Oregon State scored eight unanswered points early in the second half to get back within six. The Beavers followed that up with an 8-0 run to take the lead 53-51 with 11:30 to play. The teams traded punches from there, with Oregon going up 73-68 with just over three minutes on the clock. The Ducks hung on to take the win by nine.
The Beavers will return to Pac-12 play Thursday when they head to Salt Lake City to take on Utah.
