Beavs Back in Action in San Diego

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Following five consecutive matches in the Willamette Valley, the Oregon State volleyball team will leave the home state comforts for the first time in nearly a month to visit San Diego on Saturday.
This weekend marks the first of two one-match weeks this month, with the match against future Pac-12 foe – Gonzaga - on the 31st being the other.
THE MATCHUP

NUMBERS TO KNOW
2 – Two Beavs - Annika Hester and Elly Schraeder - used to compete for San Diego.
2 – A pair - Lauren Rumel (.438) and Annika Hester (.373) - have top-10 hitting percentages in league play entering the weekend.
2 – Two - Yasemin Narlioglu (154) and Vivian Light (116) - have at least 100 digs a dozen matches into 2024.
4.31- Annika Hester has put up 4.31 points so far in league matches, which is fourth in the conference.
5 - Vivian Light tallied five service aces in the road win over Portland last week.
6 – The Beavs and Toreros will meet for the sixth time in history and first since 2018.
THE WEEK'S OPPOSITION
• Oregon State will have just one match this week, visiting San Diego on Saturday.
• These two sides have met in five prior instances and the Beavers hold a 4-1 record in the series.
• OSU took the first three meetings and the two have split the last two, the last in 2018.
• Each meeting has taken place at either San Diego or a neutral site in California.
A NEW ERA STARTS
• For the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years, OSU is an affiliate member of the league before returning to a rebuilt Pac-12 in 2026-27.
• Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Utah State will join the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEK
• In the first week of league play, the Beavers fell to Pepperdine (3-1) but turned around things to dispatch Portland in four frames in the Rose City.
• Annika Hester tallied 19 kills on 37 swings (.405 clip) to lead the Beavs over the Pilots last Saturday.
TORERO TRANSFERS
• Oregon State welcomed two former student-athletes from San Diego over the offseason.
• Hester transferred to OSU after spending three years at San Diego.
• Elly Schraeder was a member of the Torero program for the 2020/21 and 2021 seasons before transferring across town to San Diego State.
AN AMAZING MATCH FOR ANNI
• Hester collected a career-high in kills (19) and hitting percentage (.405) on 37 attacks.
• Saturday afternoon was the best four-set performance in league play so far this season.
LET'S GO, LO!
• Lauren Rumel finds herself near the top of the WCC in conference play in hitting percentage (3rd - .438),
• The Tucson, Ariz., product sits seventh with 150 kills (3.26/set) and eighth in points with 171.5 (3.73/set).
• She's among the WCC's leaders in kills in four-set matches, holding 2nd place (21 vs. Fresno State) and 6th (18 at Grand Canyon).
ACES WILD
• After a week of conference play, two Beavs - Vivian Light (6 - 3rd) and Iris Coba (2 - 6th) - find themselves in the top 10 in service aces.
• OSU had 12 aces in the win over Portland, with Light's 5 leading the way. Coba, Lilo and Narlioglu each added a pair, and Rumel tallied one.
• Oregon State is one of just two schools in the league with two in the top 10.
• Four have double-digits in the category this season: Light (18), Lilo (10), Narlioglu and Rumel (13 each).
TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
• Making an impact from the jump, Lilo has been a vital cog in the Beavers' attack.
• Her 332 assists and 7.22 assists-per-set not only leads Oregon State but is eighth in the conference in both categories.
LEAGUE HONORS
• Oregon State's pair of preseason WCC-honored student-athletes were Hester and Rumel
• The Beavers were picked to finish fourth in the conference by the league's coaches in the preseason poll.
• The fourth-place selection is the highest for the Beavers in the Behonick era.
