Beavers Cap Home Slate with Portland, Washington State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Beaver volleyball team will conclude the home slate of the 2024 season with a pair of conference games this week inside Gill Coliseum. Â

Numbers to Know
2 – The Beavers will close the second season of the Behonick era this week on Friday night.
3 – Oregon State will be looking for their third win in four tries over a Beaver State opponent. In September, OSU beat Portland State and Portland.
5 – Oregon State sits in fifth in assists-per-set during WCC play. The Beavers have averaged 11.5 per set.Â
7 – With a clip of .338 in league play, Zaria Thornton sits in seventh place for hitting percentage this season in the WCC.

The Week's Opposition
• Oregon State faces Portland and Washington State this week to close the home slate for the season.
• The match against the Pilots will be the second of three consecutive weeks with a match on a Wednesday. Entering the month of November, the Beavers had not played on a Wednesday in 2024.
• When the Beavers face Washington State on Friday, it will be the first Friday match since the sweep of Portland State, back on Sept. 20.

Series Renewals
• Despite just 91 miles between Gill Coliseum and the Pilots' Chiles Center, these Beaver State foes will meet for just the second (official) time since 2017.
• The Beavers beat the Pilots in four to cap September, led by Hester's 19 kills, 28 assists from Lilo and a dozen combined aces to improve OSU's all-time record to 44-8 over Portland.
• Oregon State defeated Portland in an exhibition prior to the 2023 season in the Rose City.
• The final home opponent in 2024 is a longtime one in Washington State. OSU and Wazzu have met 109 times and the Cougars hold a 59-49 margin in the series.
• Oregon State will look to even the series against the Cougs after falling in four sets last month on the Palouse.

• The Beavers dropped both matches last week: a five-set heartbreaker at Pacific before falling to San Diego in four on Senior Day.Â

A New Era Underway
• For the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years, OSU is an affiliate member of the WCC before returning to a rebuilt Pac-12 in 2026-27.
• Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Utah State will join OSU and Washington State in the Pac-12 on July 1, 2026.

• The Beavers tallied 11 service aces in the sweep of Gonzaga. It marked the second highest in a WCC match since the four-set win at Portland to end September, when they had a dozen.
• In the sweep of Gonzaga, the Beavs had back-to-back sets with four aces.
• This season, Light's 0.38 aces/set mark is third in the league.
• Light's five-ace match at Portland in ranks atop the league's single-match performances in WCC action. It ranks as tops in the league during four-set matches.
• Lilo's five-ace outing against San Francisco three weeks ago is the most in a five-match set this season.

Lilo Leveling Up
• Standing at 644 assists, Lilo entered OSU's top 10 for assists in a single season by a freshman in the win over Saint Mary's last month with her 485th helper.
• The Kailua, Hawaii, product currently sits in seventh place.

• Three Beavs - Emma Lilo, Annika Hester and Lauren Rumel - have played in all 95 sets so far in the 24 matches played this season.
• Rumel played in all 120 sets (in 30 matches) in 2023.
