November 27, 2024 | Women's Volleyball
LOS ANGELES – Offensive struggles held back the Oregon State volleyball team against LMU on Wednesday night as they fell to LMU by a 3-0 score.
After being held to an .032 hitting line by the Lions, the Beavers (10-17, 8-9 WCC) fell 16-25, 16-25, 9-25. Oregon State committed 23 attack errors in the match, including eight apiece in the final two stanzas.
Annika Hester led the Beavers' offense with seven kills while Emma Lilo contributed with 14 assists. Amanda Burns – a Manhattan Beach, Calif., native – and Yasemin Narlioglu each tallied a service ace. Defensively, Narlioglu led Oregon State with seven digs while Vivan Light, Kalli Schoening and Zaria Thornton each had a block.
LMU used lengthy runs in all three sets – as high as 13-1 in the third – to pull away from Oregon State early. During the opening set, the Beavers tried to claw back from behind by using a 4-0 to cut an eight-point lead in half at 20-12 but could not get closer.
In the final frame, the Lions held the Beavers to a hitting clip in the red – at -.074 – to take the match in just three.
Oregon State will close the 2024 season on Saturday, November 30, in Malibu at Pepperdine. First serve is set for noon and can be seen on ESPN+.
