
Beavers Drop Matchup with Bruins

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Oregon State men's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 71-63 contest against UCLA Thursday evening at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Tyler Bilodeau led the Beavers with 18 points and six rebounds. Jordan Pope finished in double-figures yet again, ending his day with 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the floor. Dexter Akanno scored 13 points and pulled down four rebounds.
Michael Rataj rounded out a quartet of Beavers in double-figures with 10 points and six boards. As a team, Oregon State shot 51.1 percent from the floor.
The Beavers and Bruins went back-and-forth early on, with UCLA leading 5-4 at the game's first media timeout. Oregon State led 14-11 with 11:30 remaining in the opening period. UCLA led by as many as six in the first half, before taking a 33-31 edge into the intermission.
Akanno led the Beavers with eight first-half points.
Oregon State retook the lead on a Pope 3-pointer just over two minutes into the second half. UCLA responded by going up by eight mid-way through the second half. The Beavers were back within one with six minutes to go, but could not get over the hump, as the Bruins took the win by eight.
Adem Bona and Dylan Andrews led UCLA with 18 points apiece.
The Beavers will head across town this weekend for a Saturday matchup with USC.
