
Beavers Drop Game at Cal

BERKELEY, Calif. – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to California 81-73 Thursday evening at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley.
The Beavers led by as many as 11, and were in front for over 32 minutes of game time, before the Golden Bears reclaimed the lead late on to take the victory.
Jordan Pope led the Beavers with 23 points and four assists. Tyler Bilodeau had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Dexter Akanno scored 15 points, all of which game in the first half. Michael Rataj had eight points and three assists.
Oregon State out-rebounded California 34-33 in the contest and shot 43.5 percent from the floor.
The Beaver defense clamped down early, as Oregon State held Cal to one make on its first six field goal attempts. OSU led 16-10 seven minutes into the contest. The Beavers extended their advantage to 11 in the middle portion of the opening half.
The Golden Bears fought back to get within six, but Oregon State answered to bring the lead back to 11 five minutes before the intermission. The Beavers headed to the break leading 43-34.
Akanno went 5-for-5 from the floor in the opening frame to head to the locker room with 15 points.
Cal used a 6-0 run early in the second half to get back within two at 50-48. Oregon State answered to take an eight-point lead at the under-12 media break. The Golden Bears tied things up at 59, and the teams would go back-and-forth from there. Cal took a four point edge in the closing minute of the contest, and held on from there to claim the win.
Fardaws Aimaq paced California with 21 points 11 rebounds and five assists.
The Beavers will head across the bay on Saturday to take on Stanford.
