Calderon Scores in Loss at Santa Clara
October 18, 2025 | Women's Soccer
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Isa Calderon scored her first goal as a Beaver as Oregon State women's soccer fell, 3-1, to the Santa Clara Broncos at Stevens Stadium.
Calderon, a true freshman from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, scored late in the first half of the game. Nathalie Lewis pressed high and forced a turnover in the hosts' 18-yard box after the 'keeper came off her line, and poked the ball to Calderon, who finished on the empty net with just seconds remaining in the first half. Saturday's game was a standout performance for the freshman, who played a season-high 35 minutes off the Oregon State bench.
Carly Carraher, Alyssa White and Lindsey Antonson all tied for the team lead in shots with two apiece while Lewis' assist brings her up to five points on the year, having scored goals against Washington and Weber State back in August.
In net, Mya Sanchez's superb senior season continued with seven more saves, including a fantastic diving stop to her left in the 58th minute after a headed effort from Santa Clara. Starting all 14 games in 2025, Sanchez entered the game leading the WCC in saves and is now up to 77 this season while posting a save percentage of 75.5.
Sanchez, Carraher, Mia Erba, Paola Figueroa and Megin Turi all played the full 90 minutes.
Oregon State returns home for a pair of games next week, hosting Washington State (Oct. 22, 6 p.m.) and Pacific (Oct. 25, 12 p.m.). Tickets can be purchased by calling 800-GO-BEAVS (541-737-4455) or visiting beav.es/SoccerTickets.
