Clerici and Lightfoot Victorious at Head of the American

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Giulia Clerici and Charlotte Lightfoot took home victory in the collegiate pairs as Oregon State women's rowing capped off a successful day of racing at the Head of the American on Saturday.
Clerici and Lightfoot, who were in the varsity eight at every regatta last season, finished the course in 20:46.6, with a 13 second margin of victory ahead of a boat from Southern California. Two of the Beaver pairs battled it out in an exciting finish for the seven spot in the pairs, with Ashtyn Miller and Linda Weitmann pulling ahead to best Madison Ezzell and Harriet Williams, who finished less than one second later.
Of the eight Oregon State pairs to compete, six finished in the top half of the 39 boats to compete.
Coxed by reigning West Coast Conference Coxswain of the Year Taylor Denger, OSU's varsity eight finished in second behind Southern California's top boat in the women's collegiate eight plus, posting a 17:31.7; the second varsity eight (18:13.5 – 8th) and third varsity eight (8:16.7 – 9th) also finished in the top ten among a 22 boat race.
After Lauren Garrett won a head-to-head competition in the women's open 1x, OSU's 2V4+ finished in second place while the 1V4+ finished in fourth among 17 competitors.
Beaver women's rowing will complete its fall season with the annual Orange and Black Regatta on Nov. 8 at the Oregon State Boathouse. Registration for the event is now open and supporters can visit https://beav.es/OB2025 to let the team know they're coming.
