November 27, 2025 | Women's Basketball
ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Oregon State battled and hung with no. 17 Vanderbilt for a half in Thursday's Paradise Jam opener, but a big third quarter from the Commodores was the difference in a 88-66 loss.
Ally Schimel was a major bright spot for the Beavers, scoring a career-high 15 points and finishing with her first career double-double. Jenna Villa also scored 15 points with three steals.
Lizzy Williamson played a strong game in the post, scoring 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds. The senior also had a block and a steal for the 33rd time in her career
The Commodores opened the game on an 8-0 run as missed defensive assignments hurt the Beavers in the game's opening minutes. Schimel scored OSU's first five points and Oregon State got within 10-7 before Vandy pulled ahead 26-13 after one.
Villa was a difference-maker in the second quarter, scoring all 10 of her points at once in a personal 10-0 run that pulled OSU back within two at 32-30. Cloe Vecina put the Beavs ahead 33-32 with a wing three and Schimel answered a Vanderbilt triple with one of her own to make it 36-35.
The 'Dores led 43-38 going into the break and won the third quarter 30-9 for the difference in the game. Williamson provided bright spots in the post with two baskets.
The Beavers rebounded in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough to catch up after the tough third. OSU won the period 19-13 with Williamson scoring six points with four rebounds while Schimel added five.
