Oregon State Adds Ukrainian International Mariia Ignatchenko
May 12, 2026 | Women's Basketball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State added an international post to its 2026-27 roster on Tuesday with the signing of junior Mariia Ignatchenko.
The 6-foot-4 post is a native of Mykolaiv, Ukraine and most recently played at Salt Lake Community College. She spent her freshman year at South Georgia Tech Junior College, which Beaver fans may recognize as the previous home of 2026 senior Susana Yepes.
"Mariia is impactful around the basket and has a beautiful touch on the perimeter. Her athleticism and abilities combine for an overall high ceiling in the post. In addition to her on-floor attributes, she is a great fit for our team and culture. I am excited to have her join our family in Corvallis," head coach Scott Rueck said.
"Oregon State felt like a really good opportunity for me, both academically and athletically. I also really like the location and this part of the world, and from the moment I talked with the team, I loved the atmosphere and the people around the program," Ignatchenko said.
Ignatchenko played in 29 games this season for the Bruins, scoring 4.4 points and grabbing 3.7 rebounds per game. In 2024-25, she started all 31 games as a Jet and scored 7.7 points while bringing down 6.9 rebounds per game. She blocked 1.1 shots per game in both seasons.
Internationally, Ignatchenko represented Ukraine in the 2022 FIBA U18 and 2023 U20 European Championships. Her experience also includes two seasons of play as an amateur with BC Prometey including five games in the EuroCup, Europe's second-highest professional level.
Ignatchenko joins an Oregon State roster that returns eight players – including All-WCC choices Kennedie Shuler and Jenna Villa - from last season's 23-11 campaign and added a talented group of four freshmen for its return season in the Pac-12 in 2026-27.
