Career Nights for Matias and Cormier Fuel Reverse Sweep at Saint Mary’s

MORAGA, Calif. – Oregon State volleyball was victorious on Wednesday, pulling off a reverse sweep of the Saint Mary's Gaels inside University Credit Pavilion.
Jackie Matias had a career night, tallying a career-best 45 assists to go with 17 digs, marking her fifth double-double of the season and making it three-straight games with 30 or more assists. The Hawaii native also added three kills and an ace in the match.
Maeli Cormier became the first Beaver to record 20 or more kills in a single contest since Annika Hester at Gonzaga on Oct. 19, 2024, setting a new career high with 20 against the Gaels. Hitting .326 for the game, 15 of Cormier's kills came off Matias assists, while the outburst was also her third-consecutive match with 10 or more.
Cormier was one of four Beavers to tally double-digit kills, as Annika Hester (11), Alana Marrs (10) and Lauren Rumel (10) paced the Beaver attack; Hester added a career-high 15 digs to go along with five blocks (one solo), notching her first double-double in orange and black. Cheyenne Green hit .429 on her way to a season-high seven kills, finishing with a team-high seven blocks, three of which were solo stops.
Yasemin Narlioglu (19), Tia Shum (14) and Kamana'o Goldstein (10) all registered double-digit dig totals, helping the Beavs to tie a season high with 81.
Though Oregon State fell, 18-25 and 22-25 in the first two, Oregon State responded to outscore SMC 25-16 and 25-17 in the third and fourth sets. Late in the fifth with the game on the line, OSU stood tall, defending four match points to complete the reverse sweep and win game number 15 of the season and improve to 9-3 during conference action.
Beaver volleyball returns to action Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum, hosting LMU at 1 p.m.
