MAKAWAO, Hawaii – Kennedie Shuler orchestrated the offense with seven assists and Jenna Villa scored 19 points as Oregon State picked up a gritty 53-51 win over a physical and tough Montana State team Thursday night at Seabury Hall School.
Shuler recorded her ninth game with five or more assists this season while also contributing nine points, four steals and two blocks in a stellar all-around performance for the Beavers (7-5). Villa knocked down 6-of-9 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from three-point range, and sealed the victory by making 3-of-4 free throws in the final seconds.
Oregon State shot 40 percent from the floor while limiting Montana State (6-4) to just 27.8 percent shooting, including 21.1 percent from beyond the arc. Néné Sow's efforts were crucial on the defensive end with four blocks and two steals.
