Beavers Finish Weekend with New School Record

Seattle, Wash./Albuquerque, New Mexico – The Beavers wrapped their two meet weekend with strong performances across multiple events, highlighted by a new school record in the 4x400 meter relay.

Improving their previous record that they set at the Nevada Invitational, Megan Hatcher, Addison Swartzendruber, Jada Hurley and Dede Norman finished the weekend on a high note. The team finished in 3:42.61, placing 10th in Albuquerque.

In shot put, Beatrice Pettersson set a new personal best of 14.69m/48-2.5 to earn seventh. Jayla Hooper finished 14th with a throw of 13.57m/44-6.25. On the sprint side, Hurley led the Beavs in the 60 meters, finishing with a time 7.75. Mersayis Shedd followed, finishing in 8.38.

At the Husky Classic, Ainsley Herron led the Beavs in the mile, clocking 4:43.46 to finish 16th. Sydney Partyka followed with a solid 34th-place finish in 4:47.39. Ruby Broadbent finished in 4:48.61 and Maya Baechler clocked a 4:50.24, both setting personal bests, continuing to climb the OSU ranks. Kate Yahn also recorded a new personal best, finishing in 4:56.68.

In the 800 meters, Jillian Brown delivered the top OSU finish of the day, placing 14th with a time of 2:09.14. Ellie Quintana with a 2:15.88 and Jenna O'Beirne posting a 2:15.94 mark, finished back-to-back in 40th and 41st. Sydney Van Der Zee finished in 2:21.43), Ava McKee clocked a 2:21.66 and Ruby Lorenz ran a 2:28.10 to round out the Beavers.

DAY ONE
The Oregon State Track and Field team opened their two-meet weekend with two first-place finishes and three OSU Top 10 marks. Jayla Hooper led the Beavs, improving her own school record for the fourth time with a weight throw of 20.71m/67-11.5, placing second in Albuquerque. Beatrice Pettersson also set a personal best in the weight throw at 17.95m/58-10.75, moving up to OSU's No. 2 spot. Markayla Billings secured the No. 4 spot in program history with a 16.71m/54-10 throw.

In the high jump, Lexi Hunt and Dede Norman both cleared 1.77m/5-9.75 to tie for first, while Grace Proudfoot finished fourth at 1.72m/5-7.75. OSU also saw strong performances in the 200 meters, with Jada Hurley and Mersayis Shedd setting personal bests. The day ended with pole vault, where Claire Lee moved up to OSU No. 3 with a 3.78m (12-4.75) clearance, finishing sixth.
Meanwhile, in Seatlle, the distance squad competed in the mile at the Husky Classic. Kate Laurent led the team with a 10th-place finish and a personal best of 9:16.26. Sage Brooks placed 23rd, followed closely by Delaney Griffin in 26th. Molly Latincsics and Erika Cunniam rounded out the top performances. Jamie Hamlin and Payton Smith also earned personal bests to close out the day.
