February 28, 2025 | Women's Gymnastics
STANFORD, Calif. – Oregon State gymnastics placed third in the Stanford Quad on Friday, posting a 196.625 team score that finished ahead of UC Davis' 195.300 but behind No. 14 Stanford (197.025) and No. 5 California (197.675).
The Beaver bars had a strong showing inside Maples Pavilion, scoring higher than any other apparatus with a 49.300 that featured no lower than a 9.800 for every single routine.
Taylor DeVries led it off with a 9.875 which set a new season high mark for the sophomore before Natalie Briones followed it up with a 9.825. Savannah Miller earned a 9.800 that set the stage for Francesca Caso, who tied a season high by earning her second 9.875 of the 2025 season, before a Jennifer McMillan 9.800 set the stage for Sage Thompson.
A former bars All-American, Thompson earned a 9.925 in the anchor spot, the second-highest score by any gymnast to compete on the apparatus. Coming off a 9.850 on floor in the opening rotation, the Lehi, Utah, native added a 9.825 on vault to go with her tremendous bars routine, and she now has earned a 9.850 or better on both bars and floor in the same meet in four of the team's last five competitions.
The leadoff spot proved to be fruitful for OSU on Friday, as three out of the four rotations started with a 9.875. Joining DeVries were Sophia Esposito, whose 9.875 led off the beam lineup, while Savannah Miller's score led things off on floor; Esposito also earned a 9.825 for the Beaver floor lineup and vaulted her way to a 9.775 while Miller scored a season high 9.800 on bars.
Competing close to home, Mia Heather made her competitive debut for Oregon State, earning a 9.825 in the anchor spot on beam. Originally from San Francisco, Calif., Heather had completed five exhibition routines in 2025 on the beam before Friday's competition.
Olivia Buckner earned a 9.800 in her first floor routine as a Beaver, while Lauren Letzsch made a key contribution on beam with a 9.850 and Kaitlin Garcia led the vault squad with a 9.875.
Oregon State returns to action next Sunday, March 9, in a dual meet at San Jose State.
