Thompson Shines as Beavers Finish Victorious in Tri Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The tenth-ranked Oregon State Beavers were victorious in a tri meet against UC Davis and Alaska on Friday, sweeping the event title race and posting a 197.175 team score inside Gill Coliseum.
Much like previous meets, OSU improved in every single rotation, starting out with a 49.100 on vault before finishing with a 49.150 on bars, 49.375 on beam and a season-high 49.550 on floor exercise.
The Beavers' floor lineup counted no lower than a 9.875 and featured our different 9.900 or better scores, all of which came in order to finish the rotation: Sage Thompson and Sophia Esposito both earned 9.900s, Kaitlin Garcia a 9.925 and Jade Carey anchored the rotation with a 9.950.
Thompson unveiled a new vault in the first rotation and earned a 9.850, paving the way for a quality showing that culminated in a pair of 9.900s on bars and floor. Her event title-winning bars score set a new season high while the floor score was her second 9.900 in the last three meets; the pair of 9.900s were split by a 9.850 at Auburn.
Francesca Caso made her return to the bars lineup, with the junior making her third appearance of the season, earning a 9.825 that tied a season-high and brought her season average up to a 9.75.
Carey's dominant season continued against the Seawolves and Aggies as the senior won yet another all-around title with a 39.675. She started on vault with a 9.900 before a 9.850 on bars set the stage for yet another beam routine that saw one judge show a 10 but finish with a 9.975; on floor, she earned a 9.950.
Entering the meet as the nation's leader both in the all-around and on beam, Carey has posted three-consecutive 9.975s on the balance beam and now has 17 different 9.900 or higher event scores across 20 total routines in 2025.
Sophia Esposito tied a season high on beam with a 9.875 that came within striking distance of her career best 9.900, while Sydney Gonzales carried the momentum from her performance at Auburn with a second-consecutive 9.925.
Oregon State returns to action Monday night, hosting another tri meet against Alaska and Washington.
