First and Second Eight Victorious at Home Regatta
May 03, 2025 | Women's Rowing
LOWELL, Ore. – Oregon State women's rowing hosted its regular season finale on Saturday, earning wins in the first and second eight with second place finishes in the first and second four and third varsity eight in a regatta held at Dexter Reservoir.
After a trio of second place finishes to start the day in the 3V8+, 2V4+ and 1V4+, the second eight earned victory number one of the day after an impressive bit of racing. Battling harsh conditions that included choppy water and a cross headwind, the 2V8+ was neck-and-neck with USC for the entirety of the 2,000-meter course, finishing two seconds ahead of the Trojans with a 7:13.08.
The momentum from that win carried over into the next race as the varsity eight won with multiple boat lengths of open water, posting what ended up being a 10 second margin of victory. In earning a win over the No. 23 Trojans, OSU has now won against a ranked opponent in four-consecutive regattas.
Competition on Saturday concluded with a combined 3V4+ and 4V4+ race where OSU finished third and fourth.
Oregon State women's rowing returns to action in two weeks, competing in the 2025 West Coast Conference Championship, slated for May 16-17 in Gold River, Calif.
