GRAB YOUR BROOM
Oregon State enters this weekend's matches coming off a road sweep of Texas State, using set wins of 25-18, 26-24 and 25-20 to claim win number nine on the year and move to 4-2 in Pac-12 play. With the three-set victory, OSU has now swept four opponents in 2026, but it was the team's first since Sept. 18 when hosting Portland State. Last week's success also culminated in the Beavers' eighth first set win of the year, improving the team's record to 8-1 when reaching 25 points first.
Â
HITTING PERCENTAGE
The Beavers hit .344 in San Marcos, totaling 43 kills on 96 attacks. It was the fifth time that Oregon State posted a hitting percentage north of .300 this season and second in the last four matches, and every single one of the six Beaver student-athletes to tally at least one kill was above .300.
Â
ONE FIVE
AC Froehlich led the OSU attack once again against the Bobcats, amassing 15 kills on 28 attempts (.393), coming within one dig of a double-double, nine in total. A native of Lafayette, La., Froehlich has led a potent Beaver attack this season with 235 kills, averaging 3.92 per set, with her average ranking second best in the conference. For her performance, Froehlich was recognized as the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Â
BEST OF THE BEST
In earning her second Offensive Player of the Week award, Froehlich joins Jackie Matias as Beavers with multiple weekly awards this season, and Tuesday's announcement marked the first time since 2017 that two or more Oregon State student-athletes have earned two or more Pac-12 Player of the Week awards in the same season.
Â
ALL-AROUND
Cheyenne Green had a strong all-around performance in last week's win, amassing nine kills, three digs, three blocks, two assists and one block on .316 hitting, which came on the heels of a nine kill, three dig performance with a .333 hitting percentage at Colorado State the week before. A sophomore, Green's 118 kills this season are nearly triple that of her season total last year (40) and rank third on the team; she now has eight performances with nine or more kills in a single match this season.
Â
BERTELSEN'S BIG SEASON
Isabel Bertelsen had another ace against the Bobcats, increasing her team-leading total to 23, which is four away from tying the team's high mark for all last season. Her average of 0.38 per set is tied for third best in the Pac-12 and her 3.42 digs per set ranks sixth. If the season ended today, her average digs per set would be the second highest per-set average by a single athlete in the Lindsey Behonick era of Oregon State volleyball.
Â
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
- Oregon State holds a combined 16-8 record against Fresno State and Utah State, including a 13-6 mark against the Bulldogs and a 3-2 record against the Aggies. The Beavers defeated Fresno State in five sets at Gill Coliseum on Oct. 3 while Saturday's matchup against Utah State will mark the first-ever Pac-12 meeting between OSU and USU.
Â
- Matias leads the conference in assists per set, averaging 10.08. After earning three Pac-12 Setter of the Week honors this season, she is on pace to become the first Beaver to average at least 10 assists per set since Kylee McLaughlin in 2017.
Â
- Oregon State showed its resilience in last week's win over Texas State, overcoming an early 7-0 deficit in the second to force extra points and secure a set victory.
Â
A NEW ERA STARTS NOW
OSU is back in the Pac-12 after two seasons competing in the West Coast Conference, adding Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State to a conference that already included the Beavers and Washington State. Also new this season is the first ever Pac-12 Championship Tournament, which will take place the week of Nov. 23 on the campus of whichever team posts the highest first half conference winning percentage.
Â
UP NEXT:
Oregon State volleyball is at home for its next two matches, hosting Gonzaga (Oct. 29, 6 p.m.) and Colorado State (Oct. 31, 12 p.m.).
